Stile Bertone MantideJason Castriota designed one-off Bertone Mantide is the kind of of supercar you either love or hate.

Based on the Corvette ZR1, it has a very aggressive design inspired from modern aerospace and the world of Formula 1.

Mantide is about 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter than the ZR1 and is more aerodynamic than the Corvette. It has a lower coefficient of drag and considerably more downforce.

0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) comes in 3.2 seconds and the top speed is 351 km/h (217 mph). We don’t think much of the design, though it is an interesting project.

But if you love it and have few extra millions in your pocket you can very likely order one from Bertone.

Mr. Castriota said in an e-mail message to NY Times, “Bertone might build three or five of the cars, though we would not rule out producing as many as 10.”

It surely is not cheap. It would be priced around $2,000,000 ( €1,500,000). Corvette ZR1, on what the Mantide is based costs “just” $104,920.
