In a press release, Toyota said that it will be leasing plug-in hybrid cars globally. These plug-in cars use lithium-ion batteries and so can be charged anywhere. The best part about these cars will be that the driver will not run out of power because when the power is low, the cars will run as normal hybrids.
Toyota will lease 200 cars in Japan, 150 in the US and 150 in Europe. Once charging stations come up in greater numbers globally, people using these cars will be able to charge the cars more easily.
These plug-in cars are more environmentally friendly than even Toyota’s hit model, Prius. It is for the first time that Toyota will be using li-on batteries instead of the nickel cadmium ones it otherwise uses in its vehicles.
