Toyota is in trouble again as it would have to recall 3.8 million vehicles for a seemingly minor problem, but one that may be indicted in car accidents. Apparently, the floor mat of the driver’s side of many Toyota cars can cause the accelerator pedal to get stuck.

As of now the automaker as well as The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has told owners of Toyota cars to simply remove the floor mat on the driver’s side. The company is still ‘studying the matter’ before issuing an official recall.

The recall will include the following models: 2007 to 2010 Camry; 2005 to 2010 Avalon; 2004 to 2009 Prius; 2005 to 2010 Tacoma; 2007 to 2010 Tundra; 2007 to 2010 ES 350; and 2006 to 2010 IS 250 and 2006 to 2010 IS 350. So if you own any of these cars, be warned.

A 2009 Lexus ES 350 was involved in a car crash on August 28 in San Diego which killed four people. The police feel it was due to an improperly installed mat.

This is Toyota’s biggest ever recall in the US.
