Terrafugia TransitionIts a car and a plane in one. Yesterday after months of testing the Transition made the first flight from the
Plattsburgh International Airport in NY.

For its first flight, the Transition was flown by Phil Meteer, Colonel, USAFR (Retired). The chase aircraft was piloted by Giora Guth.

Transition is a two-seat aircraft concept started by five graduates from MIT. It is designed to take off and land at local airport and drive at highway speeds on the road. Transforming from a plane to a car takes just 30 seconds.

Transition can fly up to 450 miles (720 km) at over 115 mph (190 km/h). To fly it you would need Sport Pilot license.

On the road this vehicle uses front wheel drive and a rear propeller for flight. Both engines are powered by unleaded gasoline.

Will this model change the world of personal mobility is arguable, but surely a big step making “flying car” a reality.
