Volvo’s marketing department has launched a new ad in Europe for the Volvo C70 hardtop convertible, which makes fun at men and how clueless we are sometimes.
In the ad you see women swapping clothes in identical C70’s and by the time one of the men arrives he will sit into the wrong car… and will drive away without noticing the changes.
Detroit preview: Volvo C30 electric vehicle
Next month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Volvo will show an all-electric C30 prototype. This is a complete battery electric car with a range of 150 km (93 miles).
Volvo’s next step forward is to build a test fleet of at least 50 electric C30s, which will be used in real-life traffic from 2011.
Geely plans 1 million Volvo units a year, new plant in China
Ford is still negotiating the sale of Volvo brand and one of the potential winning bidders is a Chinese Geely. In 2008 Volvo sold 380,000 cars around the world. If Geely gets the Volvo brand they plan to produce 1 million cars a year within five years.
That means they have to increase the current production about 2.5 times. How?
Volvo previews the all-new S60
Volvo has released first pictures of the all-new S60, which is sportier and more dynamic than the previous model. Public debut will be in early March at the Geneva Motor Show.
Production of this sporty sedan will start in early summer of 2010 at the Volvo Cars plant in Ghent, Belgium.
The Volvo S60 can be equipped with Pedestrian Detection - a new groundbreaking safety feature that can detect pedestrians in front of the car and brake automatically if the driver does not react in time.
Ford officially confirms China’s Geely as its preferred bidder for Volvo
Ford is trying to sell the Swedish Volvo brand and for month’s one of the potential rumored buyers has been China’s Geely.
Today Ford confirmed earlier speculations and named Geely as their preferred bidder for the Volvo brand. That of course does not mean Geely is the final buyer. A lot of things can change during the negotiations.
New retro supercar based on the original Volvo P1800
Bo Zolland from Vizualtech has designed a modern day Volvo P1800 for Mattias Vöx(engineer at Köenigsegg supercars).
Vizualtech did the whole body of this modern day P1800. According to Bo they tried to keep the fine lines of the Classic Volvo P-1800.

Bo Zolland from Vizualtech has created some amazing renderings of what El Camino inspired Volvo V70 Pickup would look like if produced.
Bo mixes Volvo design with classic El Camino style body. On the front we can see familiar design from Volvo S40 with bigger air intakes and hood vents.
2010 Volvo S80 unveiled ahead of Geneva debut
Volvo’s flagship model S80 is getting a facelift. From the outside refreshed S80 looks larger, tougher and more elegant. Revised front is more distinctive with a new grille featuring larger iron mark badge.
This change is part of Volvo’s new design that we have already seen on the new XC60 crossover.
Volvo’s secret Panamera competitor
This awesome concept from Volvo is just a design study but we’d really like to see it on streets. SC90 Concept was created by a designer Nouphone J. Bansasine during his internship at Volvo in 2007.
The Volvo SC90 would compete in the premium sport sedan segment with such models ad the Porsche Panamera and the Aston Martin Rapide.
Volvo S60 Concept to debut at the Detroit Motor Show
At the Detroit Motor Show Volvo will show us S60 Concept. The concept gives an indication of what the all-new S60 will look like once it enters the show rooms in 2010.
Volvo has high hopes for the new S60 and is sure that it will be one of the strongest players in this segment. So far most Volvo’s have been very conservative and even boring. S60 Concept with its coupe-style design, pointed headlights and aggressive front does not look Volvo at all. Only thing that has some Volvo in it is the grille.

Official: Ford considers selling Volvo
Ford Motor Company announced today it will re-evaluate strategic options for Volvo Car Corporation, including the possible sale of the Sweden-based premium automaker.
Ford said the decision to re-evaluate strategic options for Volvo comes in response to the significant decline in the global auto industry particularly in the past three months and the severe economic instability worldwide. The strategic review of Volvo is in line with a broad range of actions Ford is taking to strengthen its balance sheet and ensure it has the resources to implement its product-led transformation plan.
First photos of the Volvo S60 Concept
The Volvo S60 Concept will be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in early January 2009 - and it gives a clear indication of what the all-new Volvo S60 will look like when it is introduced during 2010.
“We both can and dare to deliver even more exciting and more dynamic designs while retaining our grip on the lead position with regard to safety. The concept car shows part of our future, it’s a hint that the all-new S60 will be one of the strongest contenders in the CD premium segment,” says Stephen Odell, President and CEO at Volvo Cars.

Volvo Car Thailand will give away ten thousand (10,000) Volvo cars of the Volvo XC90, Volvo XC70 and Volvo C30 models.
In collaboration with Viking Toys Ltd, a leading Swedish toy manufacturer, Volvo Car Thailand announces a playful “My First Volvo” project giving away over 10,000 model cars of Volvo XC90, XC70 and C30 to underprivileged pre-school Thai children nationwide through partnership with both government and non-governmental organisations.
Paris preview: Volvo C30, S40 and V50 1.6D DRIVe
At Paris Motor Show in early October, Volvo Cars is presenting economical new diesel variants of the C30, S40 and V50 models with fuel consumption of just 4.4 litres/100 km (C30) or 4.5 litres/100 km (S40 and V50).
The corresponding CO2 figures of 115 and 118 g/km mean that the C30 and V50 have best-in-class CO2 emissions in their segments. All three models - the C30, S40 and V50 - are equipped with a special set of efficiency-enhancing features and marked with the DRIVe emblem to signal their uprated environmental properties.
Irv Gordon names his favorite small towns
Irv Gordon — who as the first person to drive two million miles in the same car and has taken more road trips than anybody — has some advice for families preparing a summer vacation on the road: ditch the fancy resorts and theme parks and take a drive to a small town.
Gordon, a retired science teacher from Long Island, New York, clocked his historic two millionth mile in his shiny red 1966 Volvo P1800 in 2002 while driving down Times Square in New York City. He is only 300,000 miles from reaching the 3 million mile mark.
