Update: Saab brand not dead yet, Spyker extends its offer

One of the bids that did not go through came from a Dutch supercar manufacturer Spyker, which now has extended the deadline of its final-final offer for the brand “until further notice.”

Dutch supercar maker Spyker is relocating vehicle assembly to the UK

2009 Spyker C8 AileronTimes are tough for automakers around the world. Latest one to announce major changes to vehicle assembly is Dutch automaker Spyker.

To cut costs they will move their vehicle assembly from Netherlands to Coventry, England. By relocating its assembly lines from Zeewolde to Coventry, Spyker will achieve considerable improvements in efficiency and substantial cost-reductions. The relocation is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Spyker owner survives attempt on life

2009-spyker-c8-aileron-21It is being reported that Russian banker, Alexander Antonov, the owner of Spyker Cars, was critically wounded after being shot in the stomach.

He has so far survived, along with his bodyguard who was also shot and wounded.

2009 Spyker C8 Aileron debuts in Geneva

Second generation Spyker 8CDutch supercar manufacturer Spyker Cars has unveiled details about the second generation of their sports car: the Spyker C8 Aileron.

C8 Aileron’s design is inspired by Spyker’s aviation heritage as it has been with all their previous models.

L.A. Auto Show: Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85

Spyker presents the Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 – the road version of its GT2 LeMans car. The Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 will be built as a limited edition of 24 units maximum, and will be available in both left and right hand drive. Production of the LM85 commences this quarter.

The LM85 is an advanced mid-engine, two-seat sports car. It is characterized by a lightweight all aluminum body construction and an uncompromising engineering package. The powertrain of the LM85 is the all aluminum Audi 4.2 liter V8 engine producing 400 bhp.

Luxury Spyker D12 Peking to Paris SUV will go into production next year

Spyker D12 Peking to Paris SUV made its debut at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show where it received the first orders for its funky looking SUV. So far Spyker has received 100 orders for its luxury SUV.

Last year the company was reportedly near Bankruptcy, now it looks like the company is getting back on its feet as they have announced the production for their first SUV that will start next year.

Spyker presents C8 Laviolette LM85

Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85C8 Laviolette LM85 is the road version of Spyker’s GT2 LeMans car. The Spyker C8 Laviolette LM85 will be built as a limited edition of 24 units maximum, and will be available in both left and right hand drive. Production of the LM85 commences this quarter.

Spyker and Lotus sign cooperative agreement

Spyker C8 Aileron
Spyker and Lotus have reached agreement on the outline of their intended cooperation, which will include a Parts and Platform Commonality Agreement (PPCA), a Parts and Accessories Supply Agreement pursuant to which Lotus would provide certain parts for Spyker’s new C8 Aileron super sportscar, and a concept Design and Engineering Agreement relating to all of Spyker’s future models.

The parties’ objective is to reduce costs of parts and components by sharing technology.

Spyker near bankruptcy?

spyker_c12_zagato_1.jpgTwo major creditors for Dutch carmaker Spyker have requested that the company and its Formula One racing team be declared bankrupt and are currently seeking legal action to retrieve money they claim are owed.

The creditors include a Zürich insurance company and a private individual, who have told that they’re owed a combined €345,000.
