Porsche unveils Boxster Spyder - the lightest car in its range

boxster-spyder-1The Boxster Spyder will make its world debut next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It is the third version in the Boxster range and also the lightest one in the entire Porsche model range.

Inspired by the 550 Spyder it weighs just 1,275 kg. This mid-engined roadster has no AC, no radio, no heavy insulation - making it a real drivers car.

Spy shots: 2010 Maserati GranTurismo Spyder

Yes, this is the Spyder not the Coupe as it might look at first. Underneath the camouflage is a two piece retractable roof, similar to the one found on the Ferrari California. GranTurismo Spyder is designed by Pininfarina and should go on sale next spring right after its debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

Power will most likely come from the same 4.2-liter V8 found in the coupe that produces 400 hp. S version, just like on the coupe would then get the 4.7-liter V8 with 440 hp. In Addition to the heavily camouflaged version we have artist rendering of what the GranTurismo Spyder might look without all the disguise.
