Mercedes-Benz is building the last batch of SLRs
In 2004, Mercedes-Benz and McLaren jointly set out to continue the story of the legendary SLR racing sports cars of the 1950s. Five exciting variants in the SLR family have been produced - two coupés, two roadster versions and finally one for the extreme purists, the SLR Stirling Moss.
The last examples of the Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss are currently being built with last ones leaving the factory end of this month.
Fab Design SLR Desire- redesigned carbon fiber body and 750 hp
Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR has been tuned by almost all the bigger tuners. This time it is Swiss company Fab Design that shows their version of the luxury supercar.
Called SLR “Desire” it comes with a power boost from 626 horsepower to 750 horsepower and 1,080Nm of torque.
Six supercars of 2009 you can’t have
We all drool over supercars. They are the products of satanic abilities that drive us nuts.
They are subjects of legends and myths that some how become true.
Unfortunately, for most of us, at least, we’ll never get the privilege of driving or owning one.

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 by ASMA Design
We have seen too many tuners getting their hands on SLR McLaren, it looks like there is no stopping as ASMA Design is the next company that has developed their version of the amazing supercar.
In the press release ASMA says that it is hard to make claims of perfection, but there is one man who can actually make this claim of perfection, and even go as far as to name his incredible automotive creation Perfectus.

Video: Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Stirling Moss
Last week Mercedes-Benz unveiled the last version of the exotic SLR that is manufactured in partnership with McLaren. Only 75 units of the SLR Stirling Moss will be built.
Irony is that this exotic topless million dollar supercar, that makes its world debut next month in Detroit won’t be offered in the States.
Hamann Volcano comes with 700 hp
We brought you first details of the Hamann Volcano last month. Now Hamann has released all the details on their new project, that is based on the already impressive Mercedes-Benz SLR.
The total makeover is made of extremely light full carbon and consists of front- and rear wing extensions and also new side skirt attachments and sheathings.
Video: SLR 722 GT driven by Bruno Senna
Last week we brought you a fifth gear video where Bruno Senna tested Nissan GT-R and Porsche 911 Turbo. This time Bruno Senna, nephew of late three-time Formula One world champion Ayrton Senna is behind a SLR 722 GT.
Beginning of the video is little slow, but it picks up and gets very interesting quit fast. Make sure you have headphones available as the sound of that V8 is just amazing.

Video preview: Hamann Volcano
We have seen a 2-tone black and white SLR before by Mansory. This time Hamann has released a video preview of their new project called Volcano that also has a 2-tone scheme and is based on the SLR McLaren. Previously Hamann has worked on Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s, Porsche’s and Aston Martin’s.
Hamann Volcano gets a very aggressive rear wing and a roof air scoop, adding some racing cues compared to the base SLR. Other modifications we can see include a new rear diffuser, 3-piece alloy wheels, front skirt, triple exhaust and darkened rear lights. We expect to get more details from Hamann soon, meanwhile take a look at the video preview below.
Spy pictures and video: Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Speedster

Say no to windscreen and roof. This here is the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Speedster.
To keep the weight down a plastic body will be used. It will not have power windows or air conditioning.
Speedster version is 200kg lighter than the SLR 722 Edition.
The 5.5-liter supercharged V-8 is believed to be left untouched, but will be mated to an all-new exhaust system that will allow the motor to churn out more that the stock 617 horsepower.
RENNTECH boosts SLR 722 to 740 hp

When Mercedes-Benz introduced its SLR McLaren 722, there was a bit of confusion about the special-edition’s name. Many believed the car would offer a fire-breathing, 722 hp supercharged V8, but it doesn’t (it makes 650 hp).
Some believed that “722″ meant there would be 722 of the cars made … but that was wrong, too. In the end, the 722 badge actually referred to 7:22AM - the starting time of Sterling Moss’ epic 1955 Mille Miglia run in a then-new Mercedes SLR.
Mercedes Ends SLR Production in 2009
With the SLR coupé already out of production (it quietly slipped away at the end of last year), the SLR’s five-year run is scheduled to finish next year when the last roadster rolls off the line.
It is a clear sign that two partners are getting ready to part ways as McLaren has its own supercar in the making.
McLaren is getting ready to start building its own supercar, codenamed P11, and it should appear end of 2009; it’s likely to be built in the facility originally constructed to produce the SLR.
The Mercedes-McLaren SLR 722 now 300kg lighter!
The Mercedes-McLaren SLR 722 supercar - just got a major upgrade. As if the 650hp (485kW) under the go pedal weren’t enough to move the carbon-fiber and aluminum shell at breakneck speeds. The new 722 GTR appears to be nearly identical to the 722 it’s based on, but tipping the scales at just 2860lb (1300kg), the GTR is 660lb (300kg) lighter.
