Opel Corsa Color Race EditionGM’s European division Opel has released a new exclusive edition of the Corsa called “Color Race”, that is inspired from the late 1960s - early 1970s Rallye Kadett B Sprint.

Corsa Color Race is available in three Sunny Melon Yellow, Casablanca White and Magma Red, all featuring a black hood and roof, and checkered-flag decals.

Insignia Sports Tourer OPC by Steinmetz is the fastest Opel in the world

steinmetz-opel-insignia-sports-tourer-opc-1The High Performance Event by Continental and Auto Bild Sportscars at Italy’s 12 km Nardo circuit brings new records every year.

At this year’s event tuner Steinmetz set a new speed record for street-legal Opel vehicles. Their Insignia Sports Tourer OPC hit a top speed of 287.4 km/h (178.6 mph), making it the fastest Opel ever built.

Spy shots: 2011 Opel Meriva SUV prototype

2011 Opel Meriva SUV prototypeNext-generation Opel Meriva with new flexdoor system(Opel’s version of suicide doors) will debut in September at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Now we have proof that Opel engineers are also working on a SUV version of the Meriva.

This prototype was spotted in Germany and should go on sale beginning of 2011.

Opel Insignia OPC spied with production bumpers

Opel Insignia OPCJust recently we brought you photos of the Insignia Sports Tourer OPC prototype that still had the regular model bumpers. This time we have photos of the Insignia OPC sedan with production bumpers that are lightly disguised to hide final details.

The car spotted is finished in OPC blue color, which has been used on OPC models for years.

Essen 2008: Opel Insignia by STEINMETZ

First company that presented the styling package for the all-new Opel Insignia was Irmscher. Now German tuner STEINMATZ has released first images of their tuning package for the Insignia.

Tuning package for the Insignia includes 20-inch ST7 alloy wheels that come either in white or black, new front grille, new front spoiler and new exhaust pipes. More details will be introduced end of this week at the Essen Motor Show.

Opel / Vauxhall Insignia wins European Car of the Year title

The Insignia is the first Opel to win in 22 years, it has been runner-up four times – and in 2007 the Opel Corsa lost by just two points to the Ford S-Max. Ford has won the award five times but this is the second occasion it has lost by one point.

This year’s narrow victory emphasizes the high level of this year’s competition, which has 37 initial candidates and seven finalists. Of the 59 car of the Year jurors representing 23 European countries, 20 gave the Insignia top points, while 19 put the Fiesta in first place.

New Opel Insignia by Irmscher

New Opel Insignia will be launched in the European market on November 22nd. First company to present a styling package for the Insignia is Irmscher, long time tuning partner for Opel.

Irmscher styling package will be available from the beginning of Insignia sales through Opel dealerships around Europe.

Opel showcases two world premieres at Paris Motor Show

Opel Insignia Sports TourerOpel showcase two world premieres at Paris Motor Show — its dynamic new Insignia Sports Tourer with two new engines and the sleek Insignia ecoFLEX.

Two new engines for the entire Insignia class also debut. The innovative 2.0-liter BiTurbo diesel with clean tech combustion system has 190 hp, and the downsized 1.6-liter gasoline turbo engine reaches 180 hp. These two new additions complement the wide range of seven motors – all Euro 5-certified – already on offer for the Insignia.

Opel Insignia Sports Tourer spotted with no disguise

Opel Insignia Sports Tourer Opel will be introducing the Insignia Sport Tourer at the Paris Motor Show.
It will be available in European markets in spring 2009.

Sport Tourer gets two new engines - a downsized gasoline turbo engine and a new turbo diesel - will join the seven engines already available from launch of the sedan models.

Insigina Sport Tourer was never spotted as a prototype. Now our spy photographer has captured the new Sport Tourer undisguised testing with a caravan trailer.

New Opel Insignia Drops in on London

opel insignia drops in LondonLondon. As workers hauled a 4.7 meter-diameter orb from Potters Fields Park, a massive object fell 45 meters in six seconds and was caught at the last minute, revealing an intact car never seen before by the public – the Opel Insignia.

More than 300 invited guests were on hand to watch the new car plunge from the orb as it was suspended in the air. “We are very proud of the Insignia and decided that an extraordinary car needed an extraordinary entrance.

World\'s largest rooftop solar power station being built in Zaragoza
Zaragoza. General Motors Europe, part of the leading global automotive group, Veolia Environnement, world leader in environmental services, the energy developer Clairvoyant Energy and the Government of Aragon, Spain, today announced a further commitment to energy efficiency with the construction of the world’s largest capacity rooftop solar power station.

Veolia Environnement and Clairvoyant Energy are building a solar power station with a capacity of 10 Mega Watts at GM’s Zaragoza plant, which assembles more than 480.000 vehicles a year. As part of the scheme initiated by GM, the rooftop power station will be owned and operated by a joint-venture company comprised of Veolia Environnement, Clairvoyant Energy and the Government of Aragon.

Opel Insignia getting a revised logo

Rüsselsheim. A fresh, bold car requires an equally striking emblem. So when the Insignia debuts in July at the London Motor Show it will sport a refined logo that heralds a new era for Opel in innovation, technology and design.

“The Insignia embodies the confident, exciting direction we are taking at Opel,” says Alain Visser, Chief Marketing Officer GM Europe. “And this direction is immediately clear from the polished, even higher class brand emblem. We will naturally use the new emblem from now on in all future models.”

Astra VXR Nürburgring Edition on sale now


There are plenty of hot hatches on the market, but it’s the Astra VXR that’s the undisputed Ring leader…

And to prove it, Vauxhall has pulled the wraps off the Nürburgring edition, named after the car’s spiritual home, where much of its pre-production development was carried out.
Based on the standard Astra VXR and priced at £21,295, each individually numbered Nürburgring edition will come with an exclusive all-white paint finish and lightweight white 18-inch alloy wheels, equipped with bespoke Dunlop tyres, are also specified.

Opel pulled the wraps off the Astra OPC Nürburgring Edition at Round 4 of the OPC Race Camp, a competition that will ultimately produce a driver team the Automaker will send to next year’s Nürburgring 24-hour race. Opel and the Nürburgring go way back, with test stints on the Nordshcleife a standard part of production models’ development process. The Astra OPC Nürburgring Edition is a nod to the legendary track. Like its “regular” Astra OPC kin, the Nürburgring Edition is a 150-mph hatchback powered by a 240-horsepower turbo four mated to a six-speed manual.
