Geneva preview: 2011 Vauxhall Meriva
Vauxhall has released first images of the all-new 2011 Meriva (known as Opel Meriva outside of UK), that will make its public debut in March at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new Meriva, is the first Vauxhall/Opel to feature FlexDoors, showcased in 2008’s Meriva design concept.
FlexDoors are rear-hinged back doors which swing open towards the back of the car at an angle of nearly 90 degrees, vastly improving the ease with which occupants enter and leave the cabin.
Spy shots: 2011 Opel Meriva SUV prototype
Next-generation Opel Meriva with new flexdoor system(Opel’s version of suicide doors) will debut in September at the Frankfurt Auto Show. Now we have proof that Opel engineers are also working on a SUV version of the Meriva.
This prototype was spotted in Germany and should go on sale beginning of 2011.
2010 Opel Meriva spotted in the snowy Sweden (rendering added)
Opel is giving its final touch to the next-generation Meriva. These new spy photos taken in Sweden reveal us more front lights and part of the rear lights.
Side view with a lower rear line looks very similar to the all-new Opel Insignia.
New Opel Meriva spied
Opel introduced the new Meriva concept at Geneva 2008. New Meriva should be getting a new door system called Flexdoors. On that system the front door is still hinged from the front A pillar, but the rear door is hinged from the rear or C pillar.
If you look closely at the spy pictures you can see that the door handle bars are camouflaged to hide where they are. Actually they are much more on front than on current Meriva’s model.
