New Porsche 911 GT3 RS laps the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7:33

Porsche 911 GT3 RSPorsche introduced the new 911 GT3 RS at last month’s Frankfurt Motor Show. This track oriented 911 packs an impressive 450 horsepower from a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat six.

Last week Porsche was testing it on the Nürburgring and managed to lap the track in 7 minutes and 33 seconds.

As the session was in light traffic, Porsche believes they can do it in around 7:30. Surely that’s better, but not as fast as the Nissan GT-R(7:27).

2010 Porsche 911 Turbo slashes 10 seconds from the Ring time

911 TurboNew Porsche 997 Turbo was introduced last month at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Main changes are under the skin and visually most people can’t tell the difference between a new model and its predecessor.

But under the skin changes are worth mentioning again and again. Power comes from a new 3.8-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder engine that produces 500 horsepower (20 hp more than the previous model) and 480 lb-ft of torque.

Nissan claims GT-R king…again

2010tdi_gtrpl031The 2010 Nissan GT-R is even better than the outgoing 2009 model. But, you can’t engage launch control and you’re not supposed to touch the VDC button.

That’s okay, though, because the 2010 GT-R is still just as fast, well, in this case, faster, without launch control. 7:26.7 around the Nürburgring. Three seconds faster than the 09 GT-R.

2010 Porsche 911 GT3 has new ‘Ring time

Porsche took its second generation 997 GT3 out on the Nürburgring with their test driver Walter Röhrl.

Unofficially, Röhrl set a lap time of 7 minutes 40 seconds. Besting the previous ‘Ring time by 2-seconds. That’s just 2-seconds off of the current 997 911 Turbo.

This all started many speculations about the tires and non-stock parts. A lot of it came from Porsche who has been dominating the Ring until GT-R came out.

BMW M3 GT4 will race at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife

BMW M3 GT4BMW M3 GT4 will take part of the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife on 23rd/24th May 2009. Drivers are Augusto Farfus (BR), Jörg Müller (DE) and Andy Priaulx (GB).

BMW M3 GT4 will be priced at 120,000 euros and is the latest addition to BMW’s Customer Racing product range.

2012 Porsche 911 Cabrio prototypeNext generation 911 (998) Coupe was first seen on the Nürburgring last week. Today the convertible version of the next-generation 911 made it to the extreme Nürburgring.

Video: Nissan GT-R at Nürburgring with snow tires

Currently the track is closed and covered with snow as you can see from our live webcam. That did not stop hardcore GT-R fans, who put Blizzak LM-25 winter tires on their project car and headed to the ring.

With AWD and winter tires GT-R does pretty well in snow. Take a look at the video below to see GT-R going wild on the snowy Nürburgring.

Ring Record stirs up Controversy between Nissan and Porsche

Ever since Nissan thrashed its new GT-R around the Nurburgring Nordschleife and beat its arch rival, the Porsche 911 (997) GT2, there has been some sort of controversy haunting the records.

Sources say that a certain Porsche engineer claimed that the 7 minute 29 second time that the GT-R posted around the ‘Ring was achieved using race-spec slicks instead of regular street-spec tires.
