Jaguar is celebrating its 75th anniversary
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Jaguar name. This British company has been designing and building cars that represent the very best of technical innovation, design leadership and sporting success.
Mike O’Driscoll, Managing Director of Jaguar Cars, said: “In 2010 we celebrate our past, and 75 years of designing and building cars that celebrate the art of automobile making. We’re also celebrating the promise of the future, and the introduction of the all-new XJ. In just three years we’ve completely revitalized the Jaguar line-up with the launch of three beautiful fast cars”.

It is already October and soon we are into that time of the year again - The Christmas! Jaguar has announced that the new Neiman Marcus Christmas Book will feature a very limited 2010 Jaguar XJL Supercharged Neiman Marcus Edition.
Compared to the standard XJL it gets a very exclusive Celestial Black paint job, new 20-inch double-10 spoke alloy rims, illuminated tread plates and a custom nameplate that reads: Neiman Marcus 1 of 50.
Under the hood is the brand new supercharged 5.0-liter V8 that packs 470 hp.
Tata’s collaboration with Fiat may bring Maserati and Ferrari to India
Even though large parts of the western auto markets are in the doldrums, the eastern markets are doing well, seeing the examples of India and China in particular. Tata, which has made a success of its Nano, and has also bought Jaguar and Land Rover, is looking at expanding its portfolio.
Tata may cut jobs at Jaguar in UK
Tata Motors has announced that it may have to cut jobs at Jaguar as demand for this luxury car has fallen along with the recession. Jaguar already faces a pre-tax loss of ₤281 million. Globally sales of Land Rover fell by 35 percent while Jaguar’s new XF model rose by 1 percent.
Jaguar Land Rover has 14,500 employees on its rolls and has already cut 2,000 jobs. Now Tata Motors warns of further job cuts and even plant shut downs. The company is attempting to secure jobs by winning guarantees from the UK Government on a £340m European Investment Bank loan. However, the negotiations have been lengthy, with the state demanding strict terms for any financial support.
Tata’s Jaguar problems

When Tata Motors acquired Jaguar’s Land Rover, it was a feather in the Indian company’s cap, but questions are now being raised about how it is going to move forward. At stake are 14,500 direct jobs and thousands more which will be indirectly affected if the rescue plan for the revival or Jaguar falls through.
The UK government has refused to guarantee the £340 million EIB loan, offering to underwrite only £175 million and asking Tata to put up 15 per cent upfront. The UK government also wanted Tata to put in £300 to £400 million before asking for loan guarantees, which the company does not want to do, having already invested £900 million when it bought Jaguar from Ford.
Jaguar releases a teaser video for the next-generation XJ
Yesterday at the Auto Shanghai 2009, Jaguar Cars Managing Director, Mike O’Driscoll confirmed that next-generation XJ will be officially unveiled on July 9th with sales starting end of the year.
First deliveries will begin early 2010.
Next generation Jaguar XJ will be available as a plug-in hybrid
It seems that every automaker is thinking about going electric. Just recently Jaguar got a $407.8 million loan from the European Investment Bank so that the automaker could develop a luxury plug-in hybrid based on the next-generation XJ.
This plug-in hybrid will be very similar to the upcoming Chevrolet Volt/Opel Ampera.
2010 Jaguar XJ spotted again, this time winter testing in Sweden
We brought you first photos of the new Jaguar XJ back in December.
This prototype spotted in Sweden still wears heavy camouflage to hide the final look. Insiders who have seen the actual car, confirm earlier speculations that it will be more aggressive and use a coupe-like design.
Rendered speculation: 2013 Jaguar Crossover
It’s always fun to speculate on future models. As lot of luxury car makers have entered the SUV and Crossover segment, we believe it is very likely that Tata owned Jaguar will eventually do the same.
As Tata also owns Land Rover it is unlikely that there is going to be a SUV bearing Jaguar’s badge.
Jaguar: Not so fast! No supercar from us
Recently we had the pleasure to sing about an upcoming dream – a supercar from Jaguar that will continue the tradition set by XJ220. Autoweek of Britain has told us now that this kind of dream stays a dream.
But they don’t criticize without giving the faithful people an alternative. They say Jaguar is more likely to produce a smaller sports car by the name of XE.
Jaguar setting the sails to Super again?
The rumormill grinds 24/7, producing all kinds of flour. But this one, presented by Auto Express, makes probably too tasty a bread to ignore. They suggest that Jaguar is going for a new XJ220.
We have heard that the new owner of the wild car, Tata, considers the return of the F-Type. More likely the new supercar that’s going to be brought out within a year or so shall be a mid-engine concept, adhering to the block of cult created by the legendary XJ220.
Jaguar XFR fastest cat ever at 225 mph! (video added)
Jaguar revealed the XFR over the weekend at the Detroit Auto Show. Today Jaguar announced that the XFR is the fastest Jaguar ever at 225 mph. Not the stock car though!
This record run was done at the legendary Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah where an XFR prototype recorded a stunning top speed of 225.675mph (363.188km/h). It is even faster than the XJ220, which managed 217.1mph (349.4 km/h) in 1992.
2010 Jaguar XFR leaked ahead of Detroit reveal
Thanks to the leaky ship at 4wheelsnews we can now show you the upcoming 2010 Jaguar XFR that was originally scheduled to debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week. Built to battle with the BMW M5, Audi RS6, Mercedes-Benz E63 and the Cadillac CTS-V, the up-spec Jaguar looks to be quite the contender.
The 2010 Jaguar XFR receives a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with the ability to power down 510 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque through its new 20-inch Nevis aluminum wheels. After the smoke clears, you’ll notice that the XFR is capable of rocketing to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds and will continue on to an electronically limited 155 mph. Stopping a pussy cat with this kind of speed requires some heavy rollers and the XFR receives up-rated ventilated discs and R-spec calipers.

2010 Jaguar XKR facelift spotted with little disguise
Last summer we saw the first spy shots of the facelifted XK Coupe and XK Cabriolet. Then in the fall we saw a mystery XK, that is very likely the prototype for a diesel or hybrid XK.
This time we have spy shots of the facelifted XKR, that reveal new air intakes, redesigned rear bumper and LED taillights.
All new XK variants are likely to get the new drive-select transmission(from XF). Power will come from the same 4.2-liter supercharged V8, that gets a little boost in power.
New 2010 Jaguar XF Diesel S comes with 285 hp
When Jaguar introduced the all-new XF, then right from the debut it was offered with a diesel option. Power came from a 2.7-liter V6 diesel that offered 207 hp. This surely was not enough to compete with German diesels by BMW, Audi and Mercedes.
Now for the 2010 model year Jaguar has developed a new AJ-V6D Gen III S 3.0-liter diesel engine that has 275 hp with 600Nm of torque.
