Hyundai builds one millionth vehicle at their Alabama plant

hyundaiHyundai is growing their market share very fast around the world. Last week company had something to celebrate as the one millionth vehicle rolled off their assembly line at its Montgomery, Alabama assembly plant.

Production at the Alabama plant started in 2005 and since then a total of 655,496 Sonatas and 344,504 Santa Fes were built. The one millionth car was a white 2010 Sonata.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec will debut at the 2009 SEMA show

Genesis Coupe R-SpecNew Hyundai Genesis Coupe was revealed last spring and it is a perfect car for tuners. It is one of the few new affordable cars on the market to offer the fun of turbo, rear-wheel-drive and a manual transmission.

Now Hyundai is launching the R-Spec model, which they call the perfect blank canvas for tuners. Priced at $23,750 it will arrive at U.S. dealerships across the country in the near future.

500 horsepower mid-engined V8 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

rm460-genesis-coupe-1SEMA show is more and more a playground for automakers, not just individual tuners. For the second year in a row RMR and Hyundai have partnered to create a “show-stopping” Genesis Coupe.

Rhys Millen Racing fabricated a Genesis Coupe with the 4.6-liter Tau V8(from Hyundai Genesis Sedan) powerplant to develop the RM460 Genesis Coupe.

Hyundai launches stretch edition of its luxury Equus sedan

Hyundai Equus LimousineHyundai is launching a stretch version of the Equus sedan in its home market. The car is 30 cm (12 in) longer than the standard model offering extra leg room for all the important VIP passengers.

Customers can choose between a 3.8-liter V6 or a new award winning 5.0-liter V8 producing 394 horsepower.

Hyundai to shift production from India to Europe?

Korean automobile giant Hyundai Motors India Ltd. (HMIL) may well shift production of its i20 hatchback from its factory near Chennai, India, to either its plant in the Czech Republic or its upcoming plant in Russia.

HMIL spokesperson, Rajiv Mitra said, “The labor unrest and the hefty monetary demands raised by a section of workers are really frustrating us. It made the company to get global attention. We never expected such a development when Hyundai has completely changed the industrial landscape of Sriperumbudur belt in the past 12 years”.

A 17 day strike by the workers, which reduced production by 5% as a result of which the company, was only able to meet 85% of its export demands is a major deciding factor.

Spy shots: 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

2010 Hyundai Santa FeAccording to insiders facelifted Santa Fe will be out in September. As we can see from these spy photos it will get new rear lights, new exhaust tips, new grille and new front lights. Of course both bumpers will be new as well.

For better fuel economy Hyundai will add new engines to the new Santa Fe.

Hyundai Blue-Will HND-4 plug-in hybrid concept preview

Hyundai HND-4 ConceptNext week at the Seoul Motor Show Hyundai will debut its latest concept car called Blue-Will HND-4. The HND-4 is a plug-in hybrid car, power comes from the 1.6-liter four cylinder engine with 154 horsepower that is mated to an electric motor.

Electric engine gets its power from lithium polymer battery packs.

Geneva preview: Hyundai reveals three-door i20

Three-door Hyundai i20Hyundai has revealed the first picture of the new i20 three-door, ahead of its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

According to Hyundai new body style will broaden the i20’s appeal to the fastest-growing sector of the car market in Europe.

Three-door i20 prices start at £8,195 (9,270 euros) for the 1.2 Classic model.

Next-generation Hyundai Sonata (YF) spotted winter testing

2010 Hyundai SonataHyundai engineers are testing the 2010 Sonata, codenamed YF in extreme weather conditions in the Northern Sweden.

New Sonata will have a similar coupe-style design like the VW Passat CC and new Opel Insignia. Hyundai has developed a new platform for the 2010 Sonata, which is the first Hyundai to get a new gasoline electric hybrid system.

All-new 2010 Hyundai Equus is the most technologically advanced car ever to be produced in South Korea. In addition it is going to be the most expensive car Hyundai has ever produced.

Next generation Hyundai Tucson winter testing in Sweden

Best way to see how future cars behave in cold weather and snow is to actually test them there. No lab can be compared to actual snow, wind and cold temperature.

Now Hyundai has a whole fleet of next-generation Tucsons in Sweden going through the harsh snow and wind, to see how the car behaves in such extreme conditions. These three Tucsons pictured here were nicely lined up in front of a local store.
