Rendered speculation: 2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS
We saw the test mule of the 2011 CLS-Class end of September in the Alps. Current CLS is based on the E-Class, new one will likely use the S-Class platform. By the time new CLS arrives it already has strong competitors out in the form of Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera.
New CLS will feature a wider track and sharper body lines, overall styling will not change much. Here we have artist renderings based on that information.
2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS test mule spied in Germany
The Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is based on the W211 E-Class model. It is marketed as a “four door coupe” offering a smaller, but more powerful selection of engines than E-Class. CLS was first offered in Europe in autumn 2004.
CLS-Class faces some small competition from the new Passat CC, but more rivals are on the way: Porsche Panamera, Audi A7 and Aston Martin Rapide. Even the upcoming 4-door Lamborghini and Koenigsegg will offer competition though they will be built in a very limited series.
