The new 2010 Hyundai Sonata

This mid-sized sedan has been officially unveiled in Korea by Hyundai. The exterior has got a modern look, coupe style with a sweeping shape, arched roof line and short decklid. The model released in Korea has a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 165 horsepower.

The one which will be released in the US will be a 2011 model and is expected to have an upgraded version of the current 2.4-liter four-cylinder with direct injection. It will make an appearance either at the LA Auto Show or the Detroit one. A year after its launch the automaker will probably come out with a hybrid version.

Next-generation Hyundai Sonata (YF) spotted winter testing

Hyundai engineers are testing the 2010 Sonata, codenamed YF in extreme weather conditions in the Northern Sweden.

New Sonata will have a similar coupe-style design like the VW Passat CC and new Opel Insignia. Hyundai has developed a new platform for the 2010 Sonata, which is the first Hyundai to get a new gasoline electric hybrid system.

Rendered speculation: 2010 Hyundai Sonata

Next generation Sonata will go on sale in South Korea second half of 2009. It is a totally new model not a facelift of the current Sonata.

New Sonata which is codenamed YF is another sedan to follow the coupe style design. Renderings below are based on the new Genesis sedan and spy photos of the new Sonata. 2010 Sonata is very likely the first Hyundai that will be offered with a hybrid powertrain.

2009 / 2010 Hyundai i20 and Kia Magnetis spotted by our reader

Here’s a good example that you should always carry your camera with you. Our reader Johan M. from Holland was on a holiday trip to Croatia driving on the highway to Salzburg when he spotted the upcoming Hyundai i20 and Kia Magnetis.

Hyundai i20 will be revealed in full at the Paris Motor Show.

2010 Hyundai Sonata spotted

UPDATE! After analyzing photos the car pictured should be the next generation Sonata not the VI.

New Sonata will go on sale in its home market in the third quarter of 2009. Global sales are expected to follow soon after.
