All-new Lotus Evora will go on sale this spring with a price tag of less than £50,000 (76,035 U.S. dollars). First version of the Evora is powered by a modified 3.5-liter V6 Toyota engine that generates 276 hp.

Evora is the first all-new model in 13 years. Lotus is not about introducing new models every year, they are well known for introducing different modifications of current models, and this is the future of Evora.

Lotus already has a convertible version of the Evora planned, that should be available in late 2010. In addition to the open-top version there is a more powerful supercharged version planned, that will likely arrive in 2011.

This supercharged version will have at least 350 hp. Top speed is expected around 175 mph (280 km/h) and 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) under 5 seconds. Currently Lotus has tested the engine on a bench and it delivered 350bhp and 290lb ft of torque [up from 252lb ft in the standard car] without any modifications at all. We would not be surprised if the engine can easily tweaked to 400 hp.

In addition Lotus is working on the automatic transmission for the Evora. This should be good news to U.S. customers who usually prefer automatic over stick on most sports cars.

Evora SC prices are expected to start from £55,000 (83,385 U.S. dollars), depending on the modification.
