We have already seen spy shots of the McLaren P11 prototype that will compete with the upcoming Ferrari F450, Porsche 911 Turbo and Lamborghini Gallardo.
P11 will be priced around $200,000, with power coming from a mid-mounted 6.2-liter V8 AMG engine producing around 550 horsepower.
This new supercar will accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in less than 4 seconds. Top speed is expected to be around 200 mph (320 km/h).
In addition McLaren is working on a less expensive model codenamed P8 that will go against the regular 911.
What’s most interesting is that McLaren is also working on a replacement for the mighty McLaren F1, which is likely THE number one supercar from the 90’s.
Successor of the legendary F1 will take on the Bugatti Veyron, Koenigseg CCX and Lamborghini Reventon.
According to McLaren Automotive Design director Frank Stephenson: “I am looking at a clean sheet of paper for the F1 replacement, and we are still trying to see what directions we want it to go in, in terms of its design.
Top speed is expected to be around 240 mph with the power coming from a modified AMG’s 6.2-liter V8. One thing is sure that it will be very exclusive and priced above the one million dollar mark. As the development of the F1 successor continues we will be bringing you more details as soon as possible.
Original McLaren F1 was powered by a 6.0-liter V12 from a BMW that produced over 600 horsepower.
