MINI showed us the Crossman concept at the Paris Motor Show. What we have here is the Mini Crossman test mule(known at the company as R58) out in the wild. This is the first MINI to have All Wheel Drive and as you can see it rides higher than current Mini models.
Don’t get confused by the headlamps you see on this test mule, they are hiding a new set of lights that should be very similar to the ones found on the concept.
Mini Crossman will most likely use the same naturally aspirated and turbocharged 1.6-liter engines found in the standard MINI.
This is the first MINI that is assembled outside the U.K. Austrian manufacturer Magna Steyr(same company that will build future Porsche Boxster and Cayman) will build the car this time. The MINI Crossman is scheduled for release in the beginning of 2010.
