Spy shots: 2010 Mercedes-Benz S-Class comes with LED headlights

Yesterday Mercedes introduced its new innovative SPLITVIEW technology and announced that it will be available from next summer on the S-Class. There is no way that Mercedes is putting this new technology into the current S-Class. That means facelifted S-Class will be available from next summer.

In general the facelifted S-Class has not changed much. Visually main changes include new bumpers, mirrors, LED headlights, LED taillights and a revised grille. Also the rear lights are not split any more. Looks like the LED boom is on!

Mercedes faces strong competition from BMW and Audi. BMW will put the new 7-series on sale very soon and new A8 will be available second half of next year.

Most changes for the new S-Class will be technological. Like the new SPLITVIEW technology, driver assistance, lane-departure warnings, traffic-sign identification, different sensors and a lot more.

In Europe S-Class will be offered with a new 2.1-liter CDI turbodiesel and a 3.5-liter CGI gasoline engine. Most likely Mercedes will also offer a hybrid version if the S-Class. Other engines are very likely to stay the same.
