Spy shots: 2010 Jaguar XJ prototype

Current Jaguar XJ(X350) went on sale in 2007. It has not sold as well as the new XF, and is already getting a major facelift. This heavily disguised prototype spied on British roads earlier today is the next XJ.

New XJ looks sportier and lower, on the front you can see headlights that are in similar design to the Jaguar XF. On the rear you can already see LED lights.  We expect to see many features borrowed from the XF, like JaguarDrive, multimedia system and navi.

2010 XJ will get the new 5.0-liter V8 with direct injection. Both supercharged and naturally aspirated versions will be offered. First one will have around 500 hp, while the second one should offer up to 400 hp. Jaguar introduces this new engine in Detroit at the NAIAS in January.

New XJ will also come with a new 3.0-liter turbo diesel(developed from the old 2.7-liter turbo diesel). Rumor is that XJ will also be offered with a hybrid powertrain. Sales of the new XJ should start beginning of 2010.
