The end of October was marked by some colorful spy shots of the upcoming Mini Crossman. Today we have a new set of pics to display. This time Mini engineers are undertaking some winter testing in the north of Scandinavia.
It is the first Mini to have all-wheel drive and winter is the perfect place to test the advantages of that. The body of the test mule is covered in merry doodling but we anticipate that the production model will be quite similar to the Crossman concept presented at the Paris Motor Show.
Mini Crossman will most likely use the same naturally aspirated and turbocharged 1.6-liter engines found in the standard MINI.
This is the first MINI that is assembled outside the U.K. Austrian manufacturer Magna Steyr (same company that will build future Porsche Boxster and Cayman) will build the car this time. The MINI Crossman is scheduled for release in the beginning of 2010.
