Small electric city car by Audi confirmed

Reuters reported in May that Audi is planning to offer electric cars in 5-10 years. With the whole electric car race Audi has now confirmed that the all electric city car will be based on the VW Up! concept.

First it was thought that Audi’s electric car would be based on the A1 Concept.

Peter Schwarzenbauer, who sits on the management board at Ingolstadt confirmed the Up! based electric car at last week’s Paris motor show.

Audi needs to hurry up as Mini is already testing all electric Cooper. Mini will reveal the electric version of the Cooper at the LA Auto Show in November.

Audi’s electric city car will share the platform with VW Up!, once it goes into production it will be badged Lupo. There is no information will Audi also be offering mid-size electric cars on the near future or not. We expect Audi to offer a bigger electric car that would compete with Chevy Volt and the likes.
