Premium small car segment is currently ruled by the MINI. Audi has big plans in this small car segment with the new A1, that will be shown to the public next March at the Geneva Motor Show.
Sales are expected to start later in the summer and as with other Audi models there will be many different body variants(3 door, 5 door and a cabrio).
Production model is expected to be very similar to the Metroproject Quattro Concept, which was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show two years ago.
A1 will share its platform and drivetrain with the new VW Polo and will have a very wide range of engines like a 1.2 TFSI with 86 hp, 1.4 TFSI with 122 hp and 1.6 TDI with 105 hp.
Top of the line model will be an S1 with 180 horsepower, which is expected in early 2011. Who knows maybe there will be an RS version as well.
