Porsche working on Cayman Clubsport, coming this October

According to Autocar, Porsche is working on the Cayman Clubsport that will go on sale in the UK this October.

Porsche is also considering a single-make racing series for the Cayman Clubsport, just like it already does with the 911.

Cayman Clubsport has a stripped-out interior, lightweight body panels, simplified electronics, lighter wheels, which all make the car 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter compared to the Cayman S.

Just like Porsche did with the 969CS, the engine and gearbox are likely going to stay standard. If so, then Cayman Clubsport will use the 320 hp direct injection 3.4-liter flat six found in the Cayman S.

In addition to lighter weight Cayman Clubsport will also get a unique body kit with deeper front and rear bumpers and a new fixed rear spoiler.

There will be two trim levels - standard trim and race spec. Race spec Cayman Clubsport comes with six-point harness, roll cage and fire extinguisher. We expect official details and first images from Porsche this spring. Price wise the Clubsport is going to a have £4000 (5500 USD) premium over the Cayman S.
