Spy shots of the Peugeot 308 RC-Z coupe, which being test driven in Europe, reveal that it has a retractable rear wing. It is virtually simialr to the the concept car which was shown in the Frankfut Motor Show in 2007. Look at the images and judge for yourself.
The small patch of camouflage on the roof in the pix even suggests that a version of the concept’s “double bubble” roof may be slated for production. The car will probably will come equipped with several of the 308’s more powerful engines including a possible high performance unit with 250hp (184kW).
The Peugeot 308 RC-Z is expected to be launched next year, though it may be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this year. The company has yet to make any official announcement.

The most powerful engine in the current 308 line up is a 1.6 turbo outputting 150 bhp. This engine is also found under the MINI Cooper S bonnet. It’s most likely that the high performance engine would be the MINI Cooper S JCW 211 bhp version of it. Don’t forget the French market is 80% Diesel and it’s most unlikely that Peugeot would develop a specific engine for the RC-Z.
