Ever since Hyundai introduced the all-new Genesis Coupe, there have been speculations about the convertible version. Now these speculations can end, as Hyundai has confirmed that there won’t be convertible version of the Genesis Coupe.
Earlier it was speculated that in addition to the Genesis Coupe, which goes on sale in March there will be a convertible version following a year later.
Now Mr. Miles Johnson, manager of product public relations at Hyundai Motor America, has denied all these rumors saying that the Genesis Coupe wasn’t developed to be a convertible from the ground up.
“It was developed as a global car. The wind in your hair doesn’t work in Korea, and there’s not enough volume in the U.S.” said Miles.
It’s very hard to understand this decision, as the new Genesis Coupe is an excellent looking car, and the convertible version would have been a good alternative to more expensive convertibles from Germany and Japan.
We just can’t agree with Hyundai on this one and believe this is a big mistake. Don’t be sad if you wanted the convertible version, as there are plenty of aftermarket companies who can transform your Genesis Coupe into a convertible.
2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe will go on sale late March.
