In April Audi introduced the TDI versions of TT Coupe and Rodster.
Now Automotive News Europe reports that the next-generation Mercedes-Benz SLK will also come with a diesel option.
Rumor is that the new Nissan 370Z will also get the diesel option in addition to its 3.7-liter V6.
The new diesel under consideration is the 2.2L 4-cylinder twin-turbo recently launched in the Mercedes-Benz C 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY Prime Edition. This engine produces, with its 2.2 litres of displacement, 150 kW / 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque.
Estimated fuel-economy is around 45 mpg/5.2 liter per 100 km (Audi TT TDI gets 44.38 mpg / 5.3 liters per 100 km)
Mercedes-Benz has said that it will build only 5000 units of the C 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and it won’t be available in the U.S. No information yet whether the SLK diesel makes it to the states or not.
