Last time we saw the CLS prototype was in snowy Sweden. Now the second generation Mercedes-Benz CLS has been spotted test driving around Munich.
This prototype still wears heavy black disguise. On the rear we can see tailpipes similar to the new E-Class sedan. Rumor is that the new CLS will use the stretched E-Class platform.
Current CLS was introduced in 2004, its 2+2 seating and coupe like design has now more followers and by the time new generation arrives there will be plenty of competitors. Some of the closest competitors who are on the market by then are Aston Martin Rapide, Porsche Panamera and Audi A7.
Power is expected to come from a wide range of sources including both diesel and gasoline engines. CLS BlueHybrid will feature the same engine as the new S400. Top of the line model will get the usual AMG treatment with over 500 horsepower.
Next generation CLS is expected to go on sale end of 2010 or beginning of 2011.
