Rumors started in spring last year that Fiat is working on a 500 Cabrio and even the company’s director of design confirmed that the Italian manufacturer was working on an open-top version. We saw the first test mules back in September.
The newcomer will be a cabrio coach or semi-convertible that has a retractable textile roof.
We reckon Fiat is developing this semi-convertible for two reasons: first to save costs(Engineers did not have to redesign the body as it is needed on full convertibles) and secondly to distance the 500 Cabrio from competitors like the Mini or VW Beetle convertibles.
New pictures don’t reveal much more than we have seen on earlier spy shots, but we do have a rendering based on previous spy shots to show how the 500 Cabrio will look once the textile roof is removed. Enjoy!
