At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show Mini will introduce the John Cooper Works Cabrio to the public. This open top version features the same high performance engineering modifictions as the hatch model carrying the John Cooper Works badge.
1.6-liter twin-turbocharged engine produces 211 hp and up to 280 Nm peak torque.
This four-seat convertible accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 6.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph). Average fuel economy is just 71-liter per 100 km (33 mpg US). In the UK Mini John Cooper Works Convertible will be available from 28 March 2009, priced at £23,470 ($34,695).
Standard features include a bespoke John Cooper Works Alcantara steering wheel, sport seats, John Cooper Works floor mats and glossy piano black interior. Air conditioning is fitted as standard, as it is now on every new MINI.
A Sport button is located in front of the gear stick. When pressed it activates a bespoke engine control map producing boost earlier in the rev range and sharpening steering and throttle response. The gear knob featuring a red gearing diagram is unique to the MINI John Cooper Works.
Exterior modifications include unique 17-inch alloy wheels, shod with run-flat tires and John Cooper Works Aero kit.
