Mercedes-Benz GLK spied with LED lights

We test drove the GLK back in November. Some markets are just beginning to see the first models so there is no way Mercedes is already working on a facelift though this was our first reaction when we saw the car being tested in Sweden.

We expect that the facelift would arrive earliest in 2011.

The car spotted in Sweden shows LED daytime running lights, which will likely be available on future models as an option. But why would Mercedes take LED testing to cold and snowy Sweden?

There just is no explanation for Mercedes to ship a fleet of GLK’s into Arctic Circle to test new lights. There has to be more behind these lights and we believe that Mercedes is testing a hybrid version of the GLK.

As Audi is preparing a Q5 hybrid and Mercedes has been developing their own hybrid system with BMW this is very likely prototype for the GLK hybrid wearing optional LEDs. Stay tuned for more details!
