The McLaren LM5 Concept is a design study(final year project) created by Matt Williams, a graduate student from Coventry University’s Transportation Design degree program.
The LM5 is what the next-generation McLaren F1 could look like if it was designed by Matt Williams. This extreme supercar concept features the same three-seat layout with a central drivers seat as the original F1 from the 90s.
Original F1 had a BMW sourced V12 engine. Matt proposes that LM5 could use the 5.0-liter V10 that powers current M5/M6. That of course is very unlikely and we expect McLaren Automotive to use an in-house developed twin turbo V8 in the successor to the legendary F1.
This not a bad looking supercar, surely more exotic than the boring looking MP4-12C. Modern day F1 is expected in a couple of years, but until then enjoy these renderings by Matt Williams.
