Legendary Top Gear will get a local version in Russia

Top Gear is shown in more than a hundred countries. It is one of the most popular TV shows and is most likely one of the most downloaded TV shows in the world.
In addition to the “original” Top Gear there are local versions currently in USA and Australia. Now Russia will get their own local version.

Agreement has been signed by REN TV and BBC Worldwide. No information who will be the trio running the show as the casting is still underway.

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are well known around the world. Soon we can see how the Russian trio does compared to the British.

BBC already has the Top Gear Magazine in Russia, which was launched in 2004 and is very successful. Considering the size of Russia and that lot of people don’t speak English, local version could be a huge hit.

Russia offers endless possibilities for filming when it comes to choosing locations. We could see exotic cars on the red square and luxury SUV’s in Siberia going through heavy snow in temperatures most of us have never experienced.

Top Gear Russia is expected to premiere on the 15th of November.
