Latest photos of the next generation Porsche 911 prototype

Porsche 911 (998) prototypeEven though Porsche just introduced a facelifted 911 they have been working for a while on the next generation model. Last time we brought you photos of these prototypes were from snowy Sweden where Porsche had a whole fleet of 911(998) prototypes.

Now Porsche is back home and testing the next 911 in Germany.

At first it seems that nothing has changed compared to the previous report, but if you look closely you will see a small spoiler above the rear window. At the moment it looks temporary like most parts on the car, but we would not be surprised to see something similar on the production model if it proves to be functional and improves 911′s already good handling.

As it is a 911, don’t expect any dramatic changes to occur. Some of the changes we can see include revised front lights, that stand more upright. Also it seems that the car has a longer wheelbase than the current model.

Side mirrors on the prototype are moved to the side of the door(very likely a temporary move). Rear lights and huge spoiler on the rear are fake, so we expect to see some more changes there as well.

Power will come from the same flat-six engine that surely gets a power boost(very likely an increase in engine displacement as well) and the new PDK dual-clutch gearbox. New 911 should arrive earliest end of 2011 and will eventually include all the version from Convertible to GT3.
