Lamborghini Estoque concept was probably one of the most interesting concept cars at last year’s Paris Motor Show.
This four-door supercar was waiting for a green light from the VW’s executive board. Now according to Maurizio Reggiani, head of research and development at Lamborghini, Estoque has been put on ice for the time being.
Reason is the overall bad market condition around the world. As Estoque was planned in very limited numbers we still believe they would not have any problems selling this four-door supercar.
Estoque was suppose to hit show rooms end of 2011 with a price tag around £150,000. Estoque concept was a four-door, four-seat front-mid engined four wheel drive supercar, that would have competed right against the upcoming Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera Turbo.
At the Paris Motor Show Lamborghini said Estoque could be powered by different engines including a V10, turbocharged V8, hybrid V8 and V12 TDI.
Lamborghini fans are not happy about it, but it surely is good news for Porsche and Aston Martin as there won’t be another competing model for their upcoming four-door supercars.
Perhaps when economy picks up we can see Lamborghini continue Estoque project.

Ok, you’ve removed my comment but updated your article accordingly, adding the AM Rapide as another valid competitor for the Panamera. Now, are a CLS 63 AMG and its 525 hp or a possible RS7 with the turbocharged V10 from the RS6 not good enough? Moreover wouldn’t it be fair to mention the car that created the 4 door coupe niche, namely the Maserati Quattroporte?
You are right in a way that CLS and Quattroporte are also competitors.
But in real life these cars are produced in way bigger numbers. Same with Porsche Panamera likely.
Estoque was planned with very limited series, likely around 1000 units a year and with higher pricing.
@Otto and Patrick
top of the line CLS costs around 100k euros. thats 50k less than the Estoque’s projected price.
Thats a big difference.
Aston Martin Rapide would have been probably the closest competitor in price and also production numbers.
But guys we can’t afford none of them likely so cheer up:)
