Having left its past behind it, GM is now looking to the future. Having produced and sold huge numbers of gas guzzling automobiles and contributed a great deal to environmental pollution in its heyday, GM is now concerned about the environment. GM is not only going to build more electric cars, but is also hopeful that there will be more gas stations to charge the cars.
Using hydrogen cell technology, developing next generation fuel technology, more fuel efficient gas engines, electric powertrains, hybrid systems et al, GM hopes to become a market leader once again. It has made a beginning with its electric plug-in hybrid, the Volt.
