Those of you who follow us daily have already seen the spy photos of the 2011 Opel Ampera that was spotted on a photo shoot. The car had no disguise and gave us a very good view of what to expect.
Today GM released a first teaser image of the European version of Chevy Volt that will be called Opel Ampera in the mainland of Europe and Vauxhall Ampera in the UK.
Opel Ampera uses the same Voltec plug-in hybrid system as the Chevy Volt. It runs 60 km solely on the 16 KWh lithium-ion battery and emits zero CO2.
With the help of an internal combustion engine total range is around 500 km. This engine works as an on-board engine-generator to generate more electricity.
Currently GM has planned to launch the Ampera in 2011. We hope that GM can continue current development despite bad financial situation.
