When GM announced its initiative to sell new cars through eBay there were concerns about how successful such an initiative would be. However, GM has now reported that its dealers in California (which is the first state where eBay is selling new GM cars) have already received 2,400 offers to buy cars.
The site actually 632,000 hits from otential customers to GM sales sites. GM vehicles on sale through the site are Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Pontiac. GM hopes that this test program will increase its market share in California from 13.5 percent which is much less than its overall market share of 19 percent. The intital program will last till September 8, 2009.
