saan-saturnWe reported on Tuesday that one of the potential buyers for Saturn is Penske Automotive Group. Even though GM does not see much value in this brand there are plenty of companies who want to buy it from General Motors.

Just like Chrysler might be saved by Italian Fiat, there is now a high chance that Saturn will be saved by French brand Renault. Looks like European automakers are very interested in the big American market.

According to Wall Street Journal Renault with is Sout Korean subsidiary, Samsung Motors, is making a bid for Saturn. This could mean that Renault models could be sold in the States under Saturn brand. We have no idea what models Renault plans to introduce under the Saturn brand, but who knows maybe we’ll see little Twingo and Clio rolling in the U.S. under the Saturn brand in few years.

Saab, which GM is also looking to sell got a bid from Chinese Geely, which just few weeks ago made a bid for Volvo. It might be that Geely pressures Ford with that new bid to sell Volvo. Who knows maybe Geely will end up owning both Swedish automakers.
