Facelifted SsangYong Actyon spotted in Spain

SsangYong is testing a facelifted Actyon in Sierra Nevada, Spain. It seems that the coupe style SUV’s are the next big thing. At least different automakers think so. BMW’s X6 is quit popular and the rumor is that even Acura is working on its own SAV(Sport Activity Vehicle).
At first looking at the front we thought it is a Kyron going through a facelift. But once you see the rear and side it is clear it is the Actyon.
Changes look to be only on the front. the grill is almost identical to the current one found on the Kyron. Also the lights are more simple and remind us Kyron.
Rear end seems to be the same. Current Actyon was introduced in 2006 and never received a warm welcome due to its strange looking hood and the lights. We expect the facelifted Actyonto on sale beginning of 2009. Perhaps the new front makes it more attractive to potential SsangYong customers.

Why are they putting all the effort into building such crap?
I wouldn’t give this vehicle any credit for the misguided fastback SUV craze.. this looks more like SsangYong’s interpretation of the Dodge Caliber, right down to the ’90s Neon taillights!
It’s funny how people like the new X6 and hate the Actyon. By the way, this model came at about the same time (Seoul Motor Show 2005) the Caliber was shown at a Car Show (Geneve 2005).
And if you want to look at cheap and crappy cars, take a look at the Ford Kuga, Renault Koleos or the Chevrolet Captiva.

@ Revenant: The Kuga may be cheap, but hardly crappy. The design is certainly polarizing, but of a quality not currently found in any US-market crossover.
i m an actyon sport user who think the face of actyons ugly making a mistake and very conservative person .yes at first it’s very strange after a time understanbe and it comes superb desing all about used.
İn Turkey in a almost year Ssangyong catch the nice selling score nearly 5000 acyton(most of them sport and ssangyong on the Turkish market from the begining 2008)
i tried nissan navara, toyata hilux, mitsu L200, isuzu dmax, ford ranger all of them lorry anf bumby but Actyon sport almost different,silent and lux.
Face desing actyon superb kyrons usual all other those cars pick up actyon sports SUT but sad korenians didnt noticed that
