Volkswagen is showing a new Compact Coupe Concept at the Detroit Auto Show. There are no details about the platform, but very liekly it is based on the same platform as Golf/Jetta and is already referred as Golf/Jetta Coupe.
Compact Coupe is a full hybrid combining a 150 hp TSI engine with a 27 horsepower electric motor and a 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox.
Average fuel consumption is 4.2 l/100 km (45 mpg) and it emits just 98 g/km CO2, 0-100 km/h comes in 8.6 seconds and top speed is 227 km/h.
According to VW it is positioned between the Europe’s bestselling sports car, the Scirocco, and the internationally successful CC.
Even though VW has not confirmed it for production yet, we expect to see it on sale in two years.
