While GM struggles with possible bankruptcy, Chevrolet, one of its brands, has actually gone ahead and increased its sales in the UK. In April, its sales increased by almost 18% despite the recession.

Chevrolet Managing Director, Mark Terry, is decidedly happy and says about the customers, “If they’re buying a car they’re looking at the one that gives them the most for their money, no matter how much they’ve got to spend, and that’s when they realize just how much value for money there is if they choose a Chevrolet.”

The Matiz, the Aveo and the Captiva SUV have reported a boost in sales. With the government’s policy of offering cash for scrap scheme, Chevrolet finds that people are trading in high end luxury brands for Chevrolet’s value for money vehicles.

The Matiz, for instance, is available for only £4,295 to customers trading in a car more than 10 years old, making it one of the cheapest new cars in Britain. The company is also planning to introduce its new family saloon, the Cruze, in UK this summer – this ought to increase the bottom-line even more.
