Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid unveiled, racing soon on the Nürburgring

911-gt3-r-hybrid-5110 years ago Ferdinand Porsche developed the world’s first car with hybrid drive, the Lohner Porsche Semper Vivus. What we have here is something visionary in the racing field, the 911 GT3 R Hybrid which makes its public debut next month at the Geneva Motor Show.

The innovative hybrid technology featured in the 911 GT3 R Hybris has been developed especially for racing. Electrical front axle drive with two electric motors developing 60 kW each supplements the 480-bhp four-litre flat-six at the rear.

Volkswagen Defends “Dakar” Title With 1-2-3 Finish, Carlos Sainz wins the race

MOTORSPORT / DAKAR 2010Volkswagen has won the legendary Dakar Rally for the second time in succession and including 1980 for a third time. Their TDI powered Race Touareg’s celebrated a one-two-three podium lockout at the finish of the toughest challenge worldwide in motorsport.

Carlos Sainz(with the co-driver Lucas Cruz) who is already a two-time World Rally Champion won the race by only 2 minutes 12 seconds ahead of his team mates Nasser Al-Attiyah/Timo Gottschalk (Q/D) in a thrilling finale on the closing 202 kilometre sprint on the 14th and final rally day.

Honda releases specs of the HSV-019 GT for GT500 class

Honda HSV-010 GTHonda HSV-010 GT is based on the discontinued NSX successor that we showed you already back in 2008. It will compete in the GT500 class of the 2010 Super GT Series that starts this May.

Five cars will hit the track in May, with 10 drivers, including Ralph Firman and Yuji Ide.Power comes from a 3.4-liter V8 that produces 496 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque.

Porsche 911 GT3 R makes public debut at Autosport International

2010-porsche-911-gt3-r-4Today, Porsche unveiled their latest 911 race car - the 911 GT3 R. This new race car is developed for racing series based on the international FIA GT3 regulations, succeeding the 911 GT3 Cup S and is delivered to customers ready-to-race.

Based on the latest 3.8-litre Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, which will compete in the 2010 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup supporting selected Formula One races, it weighs just 1,200 kg (2,646 lb) and has a larger 4.0-litre six-cylinder ‘boxer’ engine delivering 480 bhp.

Michael Schumacher is back! Will race in the Mercedes GP Petronas F1 Team

BMW M3 GT4 will race at the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife

BMW M3 GT4BMW M3 GT4 will take part of the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife on 23rd/24th May 2009. Drivers are Augusto Farfus (BR), Jörg Müller (DE) and Andy Priaulx (GB).

BMW M3 GT4 will be priced at 120,000 euros and is the latest addition to BMW’s Customer Racing product range.

Maserati unveils GranTurismo MC

Maserati GranTurismo MCMaserati will officially unveil the GranTurismo MC during the FIA GT “Media Days” at the Paul Ricard circuit. GranTurismo MC is based on the Maserati GranTurismo S road version with electroactuated gearbox system.

Power comes from a 4.7-liter V8 engine that develops 450 horsepower.

Mitsubishi Pajero Evo Dakar RallyTimes are tough for all automakers, so everyone is looking for ways to cut costs. Today Mitsubishi announced their decision to withdraw from the Dakar Rally, the Dakar Series and all cross-country races.

Its not that Mitsubishi has not been any successful. Out of 26 entries in the event they won the rally a total of 12 times.

Aston Martin will return to 24 Hour Le Mans at La Sarthe with two cars

2009 Aston Martin Le Mans LMP1In 1959 Carroll Shelby and Roy Salvadori won the 24 Hour Le Mans. Now 50 years later Aston Martin hopes to bring the 24 Hour Le Mans title back to Britain.

Over the weekend of 13-14 June at La Sarthe, Aston Martin will have two Works LMP1 cars on the 24 Hour Le Mans bearing the iconic blue and orange livery of Gulf Oil.

Porsche working on Cayman Clubsport, coming this October

Porsche Cayman S SportAccording to Autocar, Porsche is working on the Cayman Clubsport that will go on sale in the UK this October.

Porsche is also considering a single-make racing series for the Cayman Clubsport, just like it already does with the 911.

Cayman Clubsport has a stripped-out interior, lightweight body panels, simplified electronics, lighter wheels, which all make the car 100 kg (220 lbs) lighter compared to the Cayman S.

VW claims first and second place at the 2009 Dakar RallyVolkswagen makes motorsports history as it claims first and second place of the 2009 Dakar Rally, VW is also the first automobile manufacturer to win Dakar Rally with diesel power in the Rally’s thirty year history.

The cars used were clean diesel powered Race Touareq TDI’s. This year’s Dakar Rally took place in South America due to terrorist threats at its old location in northern Africa.
