All-new Nissan Patrol unveiled in Abu Dhabi

2010-nissan-patrol-3All-new seventh generation Patrol has been unveiled in Abu Dabi, UAE, incorporating a new platform, a radical new design direction, enhanced interior comfort and luxury, powerful new V8 engines, a 7-speed automatic transmission and a new 4WD system.

According to Nissan, the new Patrol has been tested very extensively in Middle East where they were exposed to every imaginable challenge; desert, rocky surfaces, highways and inner-city traffic.

Nissan Juke unveiled ahead of Geneva debut

nissan-juke-1Nissan Juke is a new Crossover that according to the automaker is part SUV and part sports car. Producion will take place in Britain at Nissan’s Sunderland plant and world premiere is next month in Geneva.

“It takes the best elements of an SUV and sports car and combines them,” says Pierre Loing, Vice President, Product Planning, Nissan Europe.

40th anniversary Nissan 370Z Black Edition for the European market

2010-nissan-370z-black-edition-1Nissan is in its fourth decade with their Z car and to celebrate 40th anniversary they are launching a special edition called 370Z Black Edition for the European market just like they did in U.S.

Available from April as a coupé only, and in a limited edition run of just 370 units in Europe, it comes in two distinctive metallic shades: black and quartz.

Nissan Qashqai Crossover gets an update for 2010

2010-nissan-qashqai-5Nissan Qashqai has a strange name, that is hard to pronounce and spell, this has not stopped Nissan selling over 500,000 cars since 2007 around the world, except North America where it is not available and veery likely won’t be.

For the 2010 model year Nissan has updated this little CUV and the changes look good. First thing you will notice is the new front that gives it a tougher and more aggressive look. Rear has not changed much and gets revised LED taillights.

Nissan GT-R SpecV coming to Europe, limited to 40 units

nissan-gt-r-specv-1Nissan has announced that the hardcore GT-R SpecV will be available also in Europe. Limited to just 40 units it is priced at £124,900. First cars will be delivered in April and the last batch in May.

The limited run of 40 examples in Europe reflects that 2009 is the 40th anniversary of the launch of the first Nissan to wear the GT-R badge.

Video: Could this be the best drift ever?

driftDrifting is getting more and more popular and the guys behind the steering wheel better and better. Looks like M. Kawabata has done drifting history in his Nissan S13(240SX) on Toyo tires.

He stunned the crowd and judges when he entered the corner almost backwards(rear enters the turn first). For a while it seems like he is going to loose control of the car, but he successfully drifts the car with just inches from the boundaries and makes the announcers and crowd go insane.

Mitsuoka launches updated Viewt in Japan

viewt-2Mitsuoka is a Japanese company best known for transforming existing cars into classic British-style rides from the 50s and 60s. Their latest offering is Viewt, that is based on the Nissan March/Micra and resembles the Jaguar Mark 2.

Viewt was first introduced back in 1993 and the latest version comes with changes to to the body to comply with new Japanese safety regulations. For example bumpers are integrated into the front end panels.

Happy Birthday! Limited Edition Nissan 370Z “40th Anniversary” model

nissan-370z-40th-anniversary-edition-1October 22 marks the 40-year anniversary of Nissan’s Z car. Forty years ago the original Datzun 240Z was revealed to the automotive world. It was an affordable everyday sports car packing a 150 horsepower 2.4-liter single overhead cam inline 6-cylinder engine.

Times have changes and today the sixth-generation 370Z comes with a 332-horsepower 3.7-liter dual overhead cam V6 engine. New 370Z is available both as a coupe and Roadster.

Nissan previews Land Glider Concept before Tokyo Motor Show (video)

nissan-land-glider-concept-10Upcoming Tokyo Motor Show is all about domestic carmakers who are all introducing tens of different zero emission concept. In addition to the four-door all-electric Leaf, Nissan will be showing there a zero emission concept called Land Glider.

Land Glider is a two seat very narrow all-electric urban vehicle, that should be perfect for tight parking spots.

Nissan’s Leaf expected to do very well

Nissan’s electric vehicle, Leaf, is expected to boost the bottom-line of the automaker, which has already booked 5,000 vehicles for leasing and is expecting bookings of a further 15,000 units. Nissan is going to start taking orders only next spring, because the car is going to be ready for sale by fall.

Five US states, Tennessee, Oregon, San Diego, Seattle and Phoenix/Tucson, have agreed to put up 2,500 electric vehicle charging stations since there will be so many more Leafs on the road.

2010 Nissan Altima sedan and coupe unveiled for the North American market

2010 Nissan Altima SedanAltima has been Nissan’s best selling model for a long time with nearly 3.2 million units sold worldwide. Today Nissan unveiled details about the facelifted fourth generation Altima that goes on sale next Monday at US dealerships.

This mid-size sedan is available with a 175 horsepower 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder and 270 horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine in both the 4-door Altima Sedan and a sporty 2-door Altima Coupe.

The 2010 Nissan Altima – teaser snapshots

After a proliferation of spy shots and recently revelation of it full front during a photo shoot, Nissan has released an official teaser image. Whatever little the photo shows is that the mid sized sedan has redesigned headlamps and creases along the doors.

The car itself will be upgraded to have a 2.5 S M6 (six-speed manual) model which will include Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Traction Control System (TCS), a manually adjustable lumber support for the driver’s seat and 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in P215/55 all-season rubber.

Nissan finally launches its new LEAF ZEV car

We have been hearing news about Nissan’s launching a new zero emission vehicles soon and targeting a growing market. Now it has officially launched its new offering, LEAF which is going on sale in the US, Japan and Europe next year.

This C-segment car is powered by an electric motor and lithium-ion battery packs. Nissan says it will be able to drive 100 miles on a single charge. The best part about this car will be that it will be 80 percent charged in less than half an hour with a special charger. Alternatively, using a normal charger it will take eight hours to charge.

Nissan on target with its ZEV vehicles

Nissan is going full speed ahead with its plan of making fuel efficient vehicles and competing with Toyota, Honda and Tesla in this segment. It has already shown an electric car tentatively called the EV-11, running on a battery charge. It can give 150 miles on a single charge.

The car is going to be technologically advanced, with an onboard computer showing maps of places which the driver can reach on whatever battery is remaining so that the driver is not stranded in the middle of nowhere with a dead car. The actual prototype is not yet ready, but Nissan has shown the technology on an existing Tilda hatchback sedan.

Nissan introducing wireless charging for its electric cars

Electric cars are normally charged with a plug in charger, but Nissan has shown its distinctive innovative technology by doing away with the plug in charger. The auto maker is going in for wireless charging for its new electric cars.

The electric cars will be charged through inductive charging which will use electromagnetic fields and coils which can interact without actual contact. This technology is being used in electric toothbrushes and artificial hearts, but Nissan has successfully upgraded it to charge electric vehicles.
