2011 MINI Countryman unveiled ahead of Geneva debut
MINI range is growing and here are the official details about their fourth model called Countryman(mane might change in some countries when launched).
This small luxury crossover offers extra opportunities to MINI fans with more space and flexibility. Of course with four wheel drive it offers better off road(by that we mean country roads and snow) than any other MINI so far.
Detroit Preview: MINI Beachcomber concept
MINI Crossover will very likely debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Before that at the Detroit Auto Show next month, MINI will show a new concept called Beachcomber.
The Beachcomber concept is based on the upcoming Crossover with open-top and sides for some outdoor fun in a warmer climate. In case of rain or colder weather a soft top/doors or a solid roof/doors can be used just like the Jeep Wrangler. It is very unlikely that we’ll see it on production, but who knows. More details will be revealed next month when this new MINI concept debuts in Detroit.
Picture update: MINI Cooper S Clubman Airstream concept
We covered the cool MINI Cooper S Clubman Airstream concept already back in March. This design study is on display from today at the INTERNI Design energies exhibition in Milan until 27th April.
With the public debut MINI has released more images that we are glad to share with you.
Rumor: Mini Speedster approved for production
Mini is growing its model line-up and very soon all new Mini Crossman with four doors and four wheel drive will be available around the world.
Now sources close to the BMW are saying that more models will join Mini line-up, as the company has approved Mini Speedster for production.
2010 Mini Crossman spied on the Nürburgring
Mini Crossman was first shown as a concept at last year’s Paris Motor Show. We have brought you different spy photos from Germany to snowy Sweden. This time the Crossman has been spotted first time on the famous Nürburgring.
Mini Crossman rides on a new chassis that will be shared with the upcoming BMW X1.
Mini Working on the Cooper and Clubman facelift?
Could it be that Mini is already facelifing Cooper and Clubman? Cooper got a fresh look in 2006 and Clubman entered dealerships in 2007.
So why is Mini already testing a fleet of Cooper’s and Clubman ( S version and JCW as well) in Southern Germany?
One cool retro combo: MINI Airstream designed by Republic of Fritz Hansen
Airstream Inc. in partnership with Mini have created a one-off Mini Cooper S Clubman and Airstream designed by Copenhagen based furniture brand Republic of Fritz Hansen.
This minimalist and functional concept will be presented to the public at the Salone del Mobile show in Milan end of April.
Playmate of the Year sells her 2007 Mini Cooper S Convertible
In today’s economy it is hard to sell almost any kind of car. It mainly comes down to the price. So $34,999.99 for a two year old Mini Coopes S Convertible with 12,900 miles is definitely too much.
Maybe not if the car was owned by a celebrity. Is Sara Jean Underwood celebrity?
Mini John Cooper Works Cabrio unveiled ahead of Geneva
At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show Mini will introduce the John Cooper Works Cabrio to the public. This open top version features the same high performance engineering modifictions as the hatch model carrying the John Cooper Works badge.
1.6-liter twin-turbocharged engine produces 211 hp and up to 280 Nm peak torque.
John Cooper Works prepared a Mini Convertible for Geneva
The Geneva Motors Show will feature a debut by the Mini Cooper S Convertible John Cooper Works edition, benefiting from almost 50 extra horsepower compared to the standard Mini Cooper S.
JCW tunes the Minis, much alike to Alpina on BMWs, right on the production line. It is easier and much cheaper to the customers. The Convertible JCW Mini has a 1.6-litre twin-scroll turbocharged engine made out of aluminum not iron, as on previous model.
See how a Mini makes you mad
A bunch of young males agreed to make fools out of themselves to help Mini sell more Cabrios. They dressed up, opened the top and paid a visit to a car wash.
In the end they started the Mini Cabrio up again, took their video cameras out of the plastic bags and drove away into the wind to get a head, back and shoulder ache. The Mini on the other hand demonstrated its reliability, proving to work even after a bath like that.
NYC gets 10 Mini E electric cars from BMW
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced that the city will receive 10 MINI E electric cars on loan from BMW. This comes after the news that he will eliminate 700 cars from the city’s municipal fleet.
The 10 MINI Es will join the New York “Street Condition Observation Unit” (SCOUT) and will be used to locate issues with the road surface like giant cab eating potholes or to locate graffiti spots. NYC will have the 10 cars for one year and they’ll receive some pretty heavy duty real world testing, something that the BMW boys couldn’t simulate otherwise.
Snowy spy shots of 2010 Mini Crossman
The end of October was marked by some colorful spy shots of the upcoming Mini Crossman. Today we have a new set of pics to display. This time Mini engineers are undertaking some winter testing in the north of Scandinavia.
It is the first Mini to have all-wheel drive and winter is the perfect place to test the advantages of that. The body of the test mule is covered in merry doodling but we anticipate that the production model will be quite similar to the Crossman concept presented at the Paris Motor Show.
Mini cabrio debuts in Detroit
Ahead of it’s public debut, Mini shows off its latest version of its convertible. Building off the popularity of not only it’s previous cabrio, but the marque in general, Mini claims to have improved “design, quality, handling, performance, efficiency and functionality.”
The Mini convertible debuts alongside the all electric Mini E at the NAIAS this week in Detroit. With the addition of these two models, Mini has quickly grown to a four-model range, with the Cooper, the convertible, the Clubman, and the E.
MINI recalling 07-08 Cooper S in USA for reasons you wouldn’t believe
Mini USA had issued a recall for all Cooper S models that were manufactured between 2007 till 2008. While most would reckon such recalls would involved anything from minor electronic glitches to deadly issues that might hamper the safety of owners, this issue will sound ridiculous for anyone out of USA.
According to Mini, the decision to recall was due protruding tailpipes of the Mini Cooper S, ruled by NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) as a violation. What?!
