Geneva preview: Hyundai i-flow concept teaser
Hyundai has released a rendering of a new concept called i-flow, which will make its public debut in early March at the Geneva Motor Show.
This concept hints at future D-segment sedan. The i-flow is designed at the company’s European design headquarters in Rüsselsheim, Germany.
Detroit 2010: Hyundai Blue-Will Plug-in Hybrid concept
Next week at the Detroit Auto Show, Hyundai Blue-Will Plug-in Hybrid concept will make its U.S. debut. It is the first-ever plug-in hybrid from Hyundai seating four adults.
This futuristic looking concept features panoramic glass roof with solar cells, thermal generator that convets exhaust gases into electricity, drive-by-wire steering, lithium polymer batteries and touch-screen controls. In the future Blue-Will could see the production as a hybrid-only model, similar to the Toyota Prius.
Hyundai builds one millionth vehicle at their Alabama plant
Hyundai is growing their market share very fast around the world. Last week company had something to celebrate as the one millionth vehicle rolled off their assembly line at its Montgomery, Alabama assembly plant.
Production at the Alabama plant started in 2005 and since then a total of 655,496 Sonatas and 344,504 Santa Fes were built. The one millionth car was a white 2010 Sonata.
2011 Hyundai Sonata debuts at the Los Angeles Auto Show
Hyundai unveiled yesterday the all-new 2011 Sonata at the Los Angeles Auto Show. New Sonata introduces new “Fluidic Sculpture” design language and an all four-cylinder engine lineup to the U.S. market.
This sixth-generation Sonata will go into production in just few weeks with sales starting in early 2010. Lets face it, Hyundai was just few years ago a boring brand from Korea, but looking at all their recent models and the new Sonata they have done an amazing job.
Hyundai is the most fuel-efficient automaker in America
About a year ago Hyundai promised they will become the leading manufacturer in fuel economy. Now a year later according to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, Hyundai cars(2009 model year) average 30.1 miles per gallon.
Hyundai is also the only automaker to top 30 mpg in the report. Hyundai has improved design and quality of their cars dramatically, and with low fuel consumption it is easy to understand their sales success as well.
500 horsepower Hyundai Genesis Coupe by Hennessey Tuner School
At the SEMA Show this week Hyundai and John Hennessey’s Tuner School will show a 500 horsepower Genesis Coupe.
The matte black, carbon fiber-wrapped Hennessey Genesis Carbon Coupe is designed with a high-end European look and performance capabilities to match.
Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec will debut at the 2009 SEMA show
New Hyundai Genesis Coupe was revealed last spring and it is a perfect car for tuners. It is one of the few new affordable cars on the market to offer the fun of turbo, rear-wheel-drive and a manual transmission.
Now Hyundai is launching the R-Spec model, which they call the perfect blank canvas for tuners. Priced at $23,750 it will arrive at U.S. dealerships across the country in the near future.
500 horsepower mid-engined V8 Hyundai Genesis Coupe
SEMA show is more and more a playground for automakers, not just individual tuners. For the second year in a row RMR and Hyundai have partnered to create a “show-stopping” Genesis Coupe.
Rhys Millen Racing fabricated a Genesis Coupe with the 4.6-liter Tau V8(from Hyundai Genesis Sedan) powerplant to develop the RM460 Genesis Coupe.
Hyundai launches stretch edition of its luxury Equus sedan
Hyundai is launching a stretch version of the Equus sedan in its home market. The car is 30 cm (12 in) longer than the standard model offering extra leg room for all the important VIP passengers.
Customers can choose between a 3.8-liter V6 or a new award winning 5.0-liter V8 producing 394 horsepower.
The new 2010 Hyundai Sonata
This mid-sized sedan has been officially unveiled in Korea by Hyundai. The exterior has got a modern look, coupe style with a sweeping shape, arched roof line and short decklid. The model released in Korea has a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 165 horsepower.
The one which will be released in the US will be a 2011 model and is expected to have an upgraded version of the current 2.4-liter four-cylinder with direct injection. It will make an appearance either at the LA Auto Show or the Detroit one. A year after its launch the automaker will probably come out with a hybrid version.

Hyundai’s Veloster – new economical car
Hyundai is coming out with its new fun and economical car, tentatively called the Veloster. Based on the Honda CRX, it should hit the market as a 2011 or 2012 model. The new car will be be70-80 percent like the Veloster which was released in 2007, that is why its name is not yet definite.

Hyundai’s first hybrid car for the US market
Hyundai, the Korean car maker, is planning to make an aggressive foray into the hybrid car market in the US for the first time. The Blue Will concept car, which was shown at the Seoul Motor Show early this year, will form the base for this new sporty plug-in electric model.
The new car will be probably be powered by a 1.6-liter gasoline direct-injected power plant and 100kw electric motor with a continuously variable transmission just like the Blue-Will. The car reportedly has a range of 38 miles in EV mode and an overall rating of 55 mpg when the gas engine is in operation.
