Geneva 2010: Audi A8 hybrid concept
Little A1 E-tron is not the only electrifying Audi in Geneva. Audi also presents there A8 hybrid as a technology concept.
A8 Hybrid features two propulsion units – a 2.0 TFSI and an electric motor that develop a total output of 245 hp and 480 Nm of torque. Basically V6 power in a four cylinder engine.
This hybrid system enables the Audi A8 accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.6 seconds and to achieve a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph).
Geneva 2010: Seat IBE Concept
Seat is joining a list of automakers with their own electric car concept called IBE. The Seat IBE concept car uses the zero-emissions drive for urban mobility, while the clean, athletic styling of the IBE concept offers an exciting perspective on the ongoing development of the next generation of SEAT design.
Short, low and wide, an extremely low front end and broad shoulders display proportions of a classic sports car.
Geneva 2010: Honda 3R-C Concept
One of the coolest things Honda will show at next week’s Geneva Motor Show is a 3R-C concept. This three-wheeled concept envisions a single occupant vehicle for zero emission commuting.
The 3R-C is a battery electric vehicle concept showing what a future minimal urban transport vehicle for one person might look like. The battery electric drivetrain is mounted low in the three wheeled chassis, therefore keeping the centre of gravity low and thus improving stability.
Geneva preview: Hyundai i-flow concept teaser
Hyundai has released a rendering of a new concept called i-flow, which will make its public debut in early March at the Geneva Motor Show.
This concept hints at future D-segment sedan. The i-flow is designed at the company’s European design headquarters in Rüsselsheim, Germany.
Kia Ray plug-in hybrid concept debuts in Chicago
Kia Motors yesterday unveiled its “Ray” plug-in Hybrid concept at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, showcasing a futuristic four-seat compact saloon based on the Kia Forte platform.
Designed with lightweight and recycled materials, as well as hexagonal solar cells embedded in the glass roof panel to power extra lighting or climate control systems, the Kia “Ray” boasts a range of up to 746 miles.
Detroit 2010: GMC Granite Concept
We have not heard much from GMC(one of the for brands left under the GM umbrella) lately, but here’s something new in the form of a concept car called Granite.
If GM decides to produce this concept, it would be the smallest GMC ever - though it still has the same aggressive design we are use to seeing on GMC models.
Detroit 2010: Hyundai Blue-Will Plug-in Hybrid concept
Next week at the Detroit Auto Show, Hyundai Blue-Will Plug-in Hybrid concept will make its U.S. debut. It is the first-ever plug-in hybrid from Hyundai seating four adults.
This futuristic looking concept features panoramic glass roof with solar cells, thermal generator that convets exhaust gases into electricity, drive-by-wire steering, lithium polymer batteries and touch-screen controls. In the future Blue-Will could see the production as a hybrid-only model, similar to the Toyota Prius.
Geneva preview: RINSPEED UC? electric vehicle concept
Rinspeed is mainly known for their tunin division, but they have also created different concepts over the years. Their latest concept is called UC? and it will be unveiled to the public at the Geneva Motor Show next March.
Name UC? comes from terms, “Urban Commuter” and “You see?” This 2.5 meter car has a range of 120 km and a top speed of 110 km/h.
Los Angeles 2009: Customized Mazda2 Concepts
At the Los Angeles Auto Show, Mazda is showing three tuned concepts based on the small Mazda2. First one is called Mazda 2Evil Special Concept and is inspired by the weekend track car, which functions equally well as an urban commuter.
The body has been modified to show a more aggressive front spoiler and a deeper side rocker for improved aerodynamics and lower overall stance. In addition it has a strong lower diffuser and a new rear spoiler for additional downforce and a race appearance.
Volkswagen Up! Lite Concept debuts at the Los Angeles Auto Show
Volkswagen claims that the Up! Lite Concept is the world’s most fuel-efficient four seater. It consumes just 2.44 l/100 km on the highway (70 mpg).
The Up! Lite Concept is based on the future new small family from Volkswagen. There are two power sources, a 2-cylinder 0.8-liter TDI engine with 51 hp at 4,000 rpm. Second one is a 14 hp electric motor getting the power from a lithium-ion battery. Combined power output is 65 horsepower.
Video: Peugeot HYbrid3 Evolution Concept
Peugeot HYbrid3 Evolution Concept is on display at the 67th Milan International Cycle and Motorbike Show. It is basically a roofless version of the HYbrid3 Compressor we saw at last year’s Paris Motor Show.
The HYbrid3 Evolution Concept is powered by two electric motors located in the front wheels. Plus there is a 300 cc engine on the rear which offers 41 horsepower.
SEMA 2009: Toyota and Billabong team up for Ultimate Venza Concept
Toyota has teamed with Billabong and Street Image to create an Ultimate Venza Concept. Toyota calls it the perfect active sports vehicle that you could take to the beach, lake, mountains, skate park or anywhere in between and have a blast.
Street Image built the Ultimate Venza by taking a 2009 Toyota Venza as the starting point. The exterior modification of the Ultimate Venza includes an aggressive custom body kit that includes a unique Toyota/Billabong exterior paint design, fender flares and alloy wheels.
Design study: Maserati Kuba Concept
Maserati seems to be the only European premium manufacturer who has a coupe, cabriolet, four door sedan but no SUV/Crossover.
Andrey Trofimchuk design study shows us what this crossover type vehicle could look if Maserati would produce one. Described as a “brutal crossover” it has a Maserati trident on the front grille.

We covered the cool MINI Cooper S Clubman Airstream concept already back in March. This design study is on display from today at the INTERNI Design energies exhibition in Milan until 27th April.

Audi promotes “Intelligent Emotion” project at Munich University of Applied Sciences
Audi supports design students at Munich University of Applied Sciences and their “Intelligent Emotion” project.
Students were aided by Audi to develop visionary ideas for the mobility of the future. A total of eleven concepts were done from hybrid supercar to lightweight design of interiors.
