Buick unveils Regal GS Concept ahead of Detroit debut

Buick Regal GS Show CarWith an estimated 255 horsepower from a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, a six-speed manual transmission and an advanced, adaptive all-wheel-drive system, the Buick Regal GS show car is a high-performance version of the brand’s newest sport sedan.

Public debut is next week at the 2010 North American International Auto Show.

Buick Excelle GT debuts at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China

buick-excelleEven though Buick does not sell very well in its home country, it is actually top-selling premium brand in China. Yesterday Shanghai GM debuted an all-new Excelle XT at the Guangzhou Auto Show yesterday.

This five door sedan/hatch is based on the Opel Astra and will be Buick’s new entry-level model in China.

Engine choices include three lightweight powertrains that offer high specific power output, low fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions:

- A high-output 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine that delivers 180 hp.
- A naturally aspirated 1.6-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine with a two-stage variable intake manifold that delivers 116 horsepower.
- A 1.8-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder gasoline engine with double continuous variable cam phasing (DCVCP) that delivers 138 horsepower.

A six-speed automatic transmission is standard in all models.

2011 Buick RegalBuick is trying to change its image from old people’s car to something more refreshing and for the younger generation.

With the new Regal it looks like they are at the right direction. Based on the same Epsilon II platform as the recently redesigned LaCrosse, but the wheelbase is four inches shorter and overall lenghth is 6.7 inches shorter.

Buick’s Avant concept

Buick’s Avant concept is a car for the luxury market, but down sized in every way. The concept envisages doors that can both swing and slide open, a driver’s seat that moves laterally to customize interior packaging, a luggage shelf that brings packages to you and a so-called micro pergola roof that can be either opaque or transparent depending on the driver’s wishes.

Buick going to launch two new cars

Buick is all primed up to launch two new cars: a new crossover and a plug-in hybrid. The crossover will seat five and hit the markets in 2010 and the hybrid will be a successor to the Saturn Vue plug-in which never took off.

The crossover will use GM’s cutting-edge technology and fresh sheetmetal and be smaller than the Enclave. The gas-powered model will have direct-injection engines, a 2.4-liter Ecotec four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter V6.

Spy shots: Buick is working on a new small car

2012 Buick ExcelleUnder the heavy disguise is a small front-wheel drive sedan by Buick, that will very likely be called Excelle. This baby Buick will share its Delta II platform with Chevrolet Cruze and Opel Astra.

Rumor is that it will go on sale in U.S. and China earliest in 2011.

2010 Buick LaCrosse revealed ahead of Detroit Auto Show

GM has released images and details of the 2010 Buick LaCrosse, just days before the car makes its official debut at the Detroit Auto Show.

2010 Buick LaCrosse was first seen as a concept at Beijing Motor Show in 2008. At the time it was called Invicta concept.

LaCrosse is built on the revised Epsilon II architecture, just like the Opel Insignia.

Video: History of Buick design (part 1)

Future of Buick is not bright, at least not in its home market. In China they are doing quite well and just introduced a new Buick Regal there.

In the video below(first of a two part web series), GM’s current head of design, Ed Welburn revisits the past and talks about the future. He gives a pretty good history tour of the Buick’s history discussing concepts and key design elements over the last century and also future.

New Buick Regal(rebadged Insignia) revealed in China

General Motors has unveiled China’s new Buick Regal. With few new styling details like the redesigned front grille, side air-vents and additional turning signals it is basically a rebadged Opel Insignia.

Opel is also offered in China, but Buick is a stronger brand among Chinese consumers and according to GM execs would sell better.

GM Prepares to Export Buick Enclave to China

2008 Buick EnclaveDiscerning vehicle buyers in China are another step closer to experiencing what their U.S. counterparts have been raving about for the past year: the hot-selling Buick Enclave luxury crossover.

Chinese officials visited the Lansing Delta Township Assembly Plant Thursday and Friday to observe operations in preparation for the manufacture of U.S.-built Enclaves crossovers for export to China. Pending approval, China-bound Enclaves could begin rolling off the assembly line as early as next month.

2010 Buick LaCrosse Spied in Germany

These are the newest pictures of the 2010 Buick LaCrosse that our spies have spotted in Germany. The car has heavy camouflage, but you can tell where the Buick is heading with its second generation LaCrosse. The car will use a new platform called Epsilon II that has a front-wheel drive.

Production is expected to start in the beginning of 2009 and the model should go for sale soon as a 2010 model.
