panamera-4s-front.1jpgThe 2010 Porsche Panamera has been nothing less than a giant mark for criticism by everyone and their mother. And, as of the other day, you can now build your own!

Is it as big a dump on Porsche by the press as the Cayenne was? Not really, but it’s still bad. While it may be ugly to you, there’s no denying it’s a fantastic automobile.

I got in Porsche’s website and built one for some hard earned U.S. dollars. What did I find? Well, just like any other Porsche, there are 941,000,000 options to choose from. There is a damn option for everything. I think I could call Porsche right now and tell them that I wanted to order a Panamera Turbo with red brakes. Not calipers, but the actual discs… And they would probably do it! Granted, it would most likely cost me more than what my house is worth, but it would be funny just to do it.

So, just because I wanted to make myself cry and bask in self pity, I built just a standard Panamera S model that starts at $89,980. The standard S comes with 400hp going straight to the rear-wheels. I started off looking at all of the colors and finally settling on one that I thought was unique and represented something that would feed my interesting and individualized personality. The color is called Aqua Blue Metallic. The closest thing I can compare it to is BMW’s Montego Blue. Also, one of my favorite exterior colors of any car, ever. I’m into the weird blues. Funny enough, because my favorite kind of music is blues music. It’s the music I play and love. Oddly enough, though, my favorite color is red.

Well, I started my build in a pretty standard way, adding the 20″ RS Spyder Design wheels. They add some true flavor to the Panamera’s already outrageously interesting styling. Everything was pretty basic, add the carbon fiber interior package with light-up carbon fiber door sills, 18-way adjustable, adaptive sport seats, and 8-way adjustable rear seats that look identical to the adaptive seats in the front. Pretty much the standard stuff that anyone else would get.

Once all the optioning was said and done, would you like to know how much it cost? With the standard price being right under $90,000, the options added up to include an additional $56,375. That brought the total price to $146,175!!! HOLY HELL!!! I could almost buy a GT2 with that money. The GT2 lists at $194,000. I could definitely get a nicely equipped GT3, which evidently bases out at just $112,200. A lot of money, still. But, this is Porsche, nothing is cheap!

So, there you have it. You can now build, melt and then soil your pants at the same time fantasizing of owning one. If you are able to own one, please, let me know. And also, feel free to let me drive it for the site here…
