Remember the story about Brabham Racing returning as a BMW tuner. At the time we had no information who is behind the legendary name. Now it turns out that Brabham family has no connections to the Brabham Racing whatsoever.

Sir Jack Brabham, who is 82 years old and his son David Brabham have issued a press release stating that the range of cars and accessories being publicised under the Brabham name at the Essen Motor Show 2008 and on global websites, has nothing to do with the Brabham family, or its long and respected motor racing heritage, in any way.

According to the press release, this is the first time in 65 years someone has tried to use Brabham’s name and the family will fight this and legal actions will be taken.

So what does the Brabham Racing has to say about it?

They claim that they have no affiliation with the legendary Brabham family and all they do via their web sites (brabhambmw.com, brabham.eu) is try to showcase Brabham tuned BMW’s that will be produced by Brabham Racing – a company that is registered with a Mr. Trick.

There is currently a legal dispute developing between the Brabham family and Brabham Racing’s resisted owner Mr. Michael Trick on whether or not he is allowed to use the name “Brabham Racing”

We don’t understand Mr. Trick. Why would anyone use a well known name for their new business? This just doesn’t sound right.
